God Says You Are Mine

Read: Isaiah 43:1

But now thus says the Lord,

    he who created you, O Jacob,

    he who formed you, O Israel:

Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;

    I have called you by name; you are mine.

Sometimes the greatest limitation we face is the way we see ourselves. We decide that we aren't talented enough, experienced enough, spiritual enough, or important enough for God to use.

The students heard a powerful reminder of this through the Deaf/Blind Potter: our limitations do not determine our worth or prevent God from working through us. The message was simple: God looks at us and says, “You are mine.” 

Your identity begins there.

Before considering what you can accomplish for God, remember who you are to God. You are loved. You belong. And God can work through lives that the world—or even we ourselves—might easily underestimate.

What might change today if you stopped defining yourself by what you lack and began seeing yourself through the eyes of the God who calls you His?

God, help me see myself as you see me. Free me from the labels and limitations I have accepted, and remind me that I belong to you. Amen.
