Eyes to See Jesus

Ephesians 1:17–18

I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, will give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation that makes God known to you. I pray that the eyes of your heart will have enough light to see what is the hope of God’s call, what is the richness of God’s glorious inheritance among believers...

Imagine becoming so accustomed to encountering Jesus that you cannot stop seeing grace.

You see God at work in the person everyone else overlooks.

You see possibility in the teenager who doesn't quite fit.

You see grace in the person who is still asking questions.

You see God working when something familiar stops working and something unexpected begins to grow.

You see possibility where everyone else sees a problem.

That kind of vision might be more valuable than knowing the future.

We often want God to give us a picture: Show me where all of this is going.

Maybe a better prayer is:

“Jesus, give me eyes to see you.”

Because if we can recognize Jesus, we don't have to know exactly where the road ends. We simply need enough vision to recognize Him and enough faith to follow where He leads.

God may already be working in your life in ways you haven't learned to recognize.

So today, don't just ask God what He's going to do next.

Look closely at what He's doing now.

The question isn't whether God is working.

The question is whether we have learned to see.

Reflect:

Where might God already be working that you have overlooked?

Pray:

Jesus, give me eyes to see you. Give me eyes to recognize where you are moving, to notice the people you are bringing into my life, to discern what really matters, to see grace where others see problems, and possibility where others see difficulty. And when I see you, give me the courage to follow. Amen.
